In 1947 Alice Glist a film splicer in Hollywood and also a relative of a Los angeles bakeshop owner experimented with a recipe resulting in a cheesecake she served studio friends which became extemely popular and also known as the famous Hollywood cheesecake. This is the classic recipe although there are two other varieties; one that has a blueberry topping and another baked in a pumpernickel crust. The Hollywood cheesecake is a denser flater cake than the New York variety and featured a baked sweet sour cream topping.
